摘要: The importance of ecosystems for supporting human well-being is increasingly recognized by both the conservation and development sectors. Our ability to conserve that people rely on often limited a lack spatially explicit data location distribution ecosystem services (ES), benefits provided nature people. Thus there need map ES guide investments, ensure these co-benefits are maintained. To target investments most effectively, assessments must be rigorous enough support planning, rapid respond decision-making timelines, existing data. We developed framework spatial assessment relies expert stakeholder consultation, available data, analyses in order rapidly identify sites providing multiple benefits. applied Madagascar, country with globally significant biodiversity high level dependence ecosystems. objective was priority areas investment strategy global fund. assessed key provisioning (fisheries, hunting non-timber forest products, water domestic use, agriculture, hydropower), regulating (climate mitigation, flood risk reduction coastal protection), cultural (nature tourism) ES. also conducted multi-criteria While our approach has limitations, including reliance proximity-based indicators several ES, results were useful targeting Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF). Because standardized methods linking provision validation, it potential quickly planning decisions other data-poor regions.
