Towards a Sustainable Sun, Sea, and Sand Tourism: The Value of Ocean View and Proximity to the Coast

摘要: Coastal tourism is expanding worldwide, mostly owing to the attraction relevant ecosystem services such as scenic beauty and recreational activities. The aim of this study was analyze value these, using hedonic analysis by assessing how prices hotel rooms are related view, location, non-ecosystem amenities, size hotels in three touristic areas Veracruz, Mexico. We found that, besides number room increased 8% 57%, depending on ocean view accessibility beach, respectively. These results help understand why built very close coastline, despite high risk extreme frequent meteorological events. unorganized intense development tourist industry may act contrast necessity for conservation natural ecosystems, rendering activity highly unsustainable. question deal with dilemma growth conservation. suggest some alternatives that might while maintaining combined provision simultaneous coastal an aesthetically pleasing recreation, well additional storm protection.
