摘要: In undertaking what we believe is the first national-scale study of its kind, provide methodologically transparent, statistically robust insights into associations and potential unfolding effects house contents under-insurance. We identify new dimensions in complex relationship between householders insurance, including salience interpersonal – likely institutional trust. Under-insurance (re)produced along socio-economic geographical lines, with those lower status or living cities more to be under-insured. Should a disaster strike, such communities are suffer further disadvantage, especially if governments continue shift responsibility for risk onto households. Our findings support observation that insurance can contribute increasing urban polarisation light natural disasters. conclude by considering how under-insurance may growing social stratification, as well it produce situated ethical political responses exceed neoliberal aspirations.
