摘要: New urbanism has been touted as a way to create walkable communities and decrease driving. This article discusses what effect new urbanist are truly having on walking Research indicates that there is indeed strong correlation between neighborhood design travel behavior. Residents of neighborhoods with higher densities, more mixing land uses shorter distances potential destinations walk drive less than residents conventionally designed suburban neighborhoods. However, additional trips do not entirely substitute for driving trips.
