摘要: Model organisms have been key to understanding many core biological processes. Dictyostelium amoebae the attributes required perform this role for chemotaxis, and by providing an evolutionary distant reference point mammalian cells, they allow central features of chemotaxis be discerned. Here we highlight progress with in understanding: pseudopod bleb driven movement; actin cytoskeleton; chemotactic signal processing, including how cells adapt background stimulation, controversial PIP3. Macropinocytosis axenic mutations are raised as potential confounding factors, while identification new players through proteomics holds great promise.
