摘要: Objectives The influence of body size on dialysis-related mortality among Asians and Pacific Islanders--heterogeneous ethnic groups with dissimilar compositions--is poorly understood. Our study objective was to compare the relations patients end-stage renal disease different ethnicities. Design, setting, participants We examined data from a cohort 21,492 adult Asians, Islanders non-Hispanic Whites who initiated dialysis during 1995-2003 within California, Hawaii US Islands. Main outcome measure Time death through September 22, 2008. Results Among both men women, were heaviest tallest examined. Annual rates highest (29.6%), intermediate (18.8%) lowest (17.3%). Larger associated lower Islanders, most after adjustment for patient-level sociodemographic clinical factors, area-based socioeconomic status geographic clustering. Filipinos exception this rule showed trend towards higher increasing size. These findings consistent irrespective how measured. Conclusions is dialysis. Use disaggregated ethnicity may enhance our understanding ethnicity- or community-specific factors size, composition outcomes in these diverse populations.
