摘要: Cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles (nanoceria) have attracted significant attention in the area of biomedical applications recently, although they been widely used a variety fields for more than 10 years. In its nanometer (atomic scale) range, nanoceria exhibit unique properties, such as resistance to high temperature degradation, solid electrolytes, regenerative abilities scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), catalytic antioxidant activities, and defined lattice structure. These features make nanomedicine treatment diseases which ROS demonstrated be major causative factor. The use specially designed treat inherited ocular was first by our lab, shown effective persistent preventing ROS-induced damage preserving retinal structure function without any adverse side effects. this chapter, we review recent publications characteristics, biological effects, their application fields—including work, evaluation toxicity, perspectives future applications.
