摘要: As we saw in the previous chapter, membrane, and particular its integral peripheral membrane protein components, are not organized as simplistically, or at least functionally, envisaged fluid mosaic model. Firstly, there is clearly a domain structure, with many physical restrictions to long range lateral movement within plane of membrane; that is, diffusion may only occur limited areas domains membrane. Secondly, proteins have reduced essentially no mobility through variety specific mechanisms, such linkage cytoskeleton, aggregation, etc. Accordingly, it crucial any critical examination tenets Mobile Receptor Hypothesis examine evidence for actual plasma receptors. This chapter will thus concentrate on measurements receptors polypeptide hormones (see refs. 1–3) draw general conclusions respect receptor context possible relevance signal transduction. The succeeding (chapter 5) then deal specifically direct indirect role hormone transduction, while 6 discuss desensitization response subsequent hormonal stimulation. Chapter 7 rounds picture by concentrating immobilization signaling events relating particularly immune responses cell adhesion.
