摘要: Estimating the incidence of preterm birth depends on accurate assessment gestational age and pregnancy outcomes. In many countries, such data are not routinely collected, making global estimates difficult. A recent systematic approach to this problem has estimated a worldwide 11.1 per 100 live births in 2010. Significant variation rates by country region world was noted, but is smaller than observed for number other important reproductive Rates range from approximately 5% some northern European countries over 15% sub-Saharan Africa Asia. Time trends suggest that increasing, much change may reflect changes medically induced early delivery practices as improvements survival infants improved. Whether there have been major spontaneous unknown. New approaches classifying etiologic heterogeneity proposed offer promise developing specific interventions address underlying causes health problem.
