摘要: Abstract Endocarditis is uncommon in adult horses and rarer still very young horses. The present report describes a case of endocarditis due to Enterococcus casseliflavus 4-month-old foal. Chronic-active, fibrotic, fibrinous the mitral valve was detected at necropsy. A pure growth spp. isolated from lesion, isolate initially identified as faecium using standard biochemical methods. However, after subsequent sequencing 16S ribosomal RNA gene, classified E. casseliflavus. Septicemia suggested by presence additional lesions including renal cardiac infarcts neutrophilic meningitis. This constitutes first description caused an enterococcal species horse suggests that genetic studies may be necessary for definitive identification level.
