摘要: The cost of brain disorders and mental ill-health has been rising sharply in the last years developed some developing countries now exceeds other diseases, such as cardiovascular or metabolic diseases (diabetes) [1]. Cognitive decline, particularly forms Alzheimer’s disease, emerged 20 a major challenge to health systems affecting quality life ancient population social economic environment patients family. Diseases, depression, schizophrenia, Hun‐ tington’s disease mood are also rapidly increasing expectancy increases. To reduce risk cognitive decline elderly it is necessary consider possible impact style non-genetic, but modifiable, factors. Diet one these modifiable factors that may contribute prevention amelioration chronic neurodegenerative diseases. Among dietary nu‐ trients most closely associated with optimal development function nervous system, docosahexaenoic acid (22:6, DHA) an omega-3 fatty acid, exclusively ma‐ rine origin, at present relevant [2].
