摘要: Silver (Ag) inoculation was found to significantly reduce the average grain size of cast zinc (Zn) by up 90%. The mechanism such refinement in Zn investigated through varying addition level this peritectic-forming solute. reduction sensitive Ag content due its large growth restriction factor. When over maximum solid solubility Zn, situ formed nucleation particles, with dendritic morphology (different from previously reported faceted/spherical shape), were reproducibly observed near centres refined alloys. These particles determined be pro-peritectic AgZn3 phase based on information Zn–Ag diagram, results thermal analysis, identification and chemical composition. high potency as sites for grains, further verified electron backscattered diffraction analysis crystallographic calculation using edge-to-edge matching model. A new reproducible hexagonal close packed–hexagonal packed orientation relationship between matrix experimentally first time. In addition, effect particle distribution microstructural also investigated. Finally, elucidated terms crystallography interdependence theory.
