摘要: Glycolipids are an important class of lipids found in the plasma membrane surface virtually all vertebrate cells and particularly abundant nervous system (Yu Saito, 1989). The glycolipid composition is cell specific also known to undergo developmental changes as a result cellular maturation. Recent studies from many laboratories have provided stong evidence that glycolipids not only play role determining properties cell, but may participate variety functions such recognition adhesion. present paper describes two aspects myelin metabolism, namely, synthesis galactocerebrosides catabolism gangliosides with special emphasis on newly discovered myelin-associated neuraminidase.
