摘要: Radial variation in wood density was investigated for 1225 trees at 39 months a provenance/progeny test of Calycophyllum spruceanum (Benth.) Hook. f. ex Shum. The established three planting zones located one watershed the Peruvian Amazon. Air-dry measured by X-ray densitometry from pith to bark on slices sampled south-facing direction stem. Density increased significantly all zones. difference between and larger where grew more rapidly, with faster growth. Phenotypic correlations also suggested that selecting faster-growing would result less homogeneous density. This could lead radial gradients other properties are correlated Results compared tropical hardwoods, some practical implications discussed.
