摘要: Background Electrocochleography (ECochG) is useful in supporting the diagnosis of Meniere disease (MD). Possible MD (early as defined by 1995 American Academy Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Committee on Hearing Equilibrium) a readily treatable form MD. Objectives To identify whether ECochG summating potential/action potential (SP/AP) area curve measures are more sensitive than conventional SP/AP amplitude ratios detecting possible Patients Methods A retrospective chart review 3-year period (1997-2000) was conducted. All charts patients diagnosed having who had undergone tympanic were examined to those with Exclusion criteria incomplete workup, performed using prior system, cochlear microphonic spike obscuring ratio measurements, otologic surgery. control group normal data identified. for both groups measured. Results Of 138 reviewed, 20 (14%) MD, 8 passed exclusion criteria. An audiologist blinded patients' diagnoses all measurements. The upper limit from ears (n = 13) (α .05) similar previously published results. 4 an abnormal ratio, 7 ratio; difference between statistically significant ( P .03, χ 2 ). Conclusions significantly improves diagnostic sensitivity This refinement will allow earlier intervention preserve inner ear function
