摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of the subject carbohydrate crystallography. Crystallography is recognized as preferred method for deducing complete details molecular geometry in solid state. It noted that other physical and chemical methods generally provide only partial structural information. However, crystallography to utilize its fullest potential, it should be used conjunction with correlate known information about a molecule, behavior, properties. The first requirement studying crystal structure obtain good single crystal, 0.3 mm each dimension. In context carbohydrates, occurrence hydroxyl groups molecules gives several potential sites hydrogen bonding, being capable acting both donors acceptors atoms hydrogen-bond formation. actual number bonds formed crystals maximum possible. bond lengths angles differ considerably from one sugar another.
