摘要: The study of activity rhythms, their potential zeitgebers and masking factors among free-ranging primates has received relatively little attention in the past. Most are diurnal, a few them nocturnal, even fewer cathemeral. Owl monkeys (Aotus azarai azarai) regularly show as well Argentinean Paraguayan Chaco. goal this was to examine how changes patterns owl Formosa, Argentina related daily, monthly, seasonal temperature, light food availability . During 1 year, I collected data from five groups followed continuously dawn dusk, dusk or uninterruptedly during 24 36 h for approximately 1,500 h. kept hourly daily records temperature conditions, gathered monthly information on density, distribution abundance resources available monkeys. found that area is highly seasonal, characterized by significant fluctuations rainfall, photoperiod, availability. had average 5 h day 4 h night. amount diurnal remained fairly constant through year despite exogenous factors. did not could be attributed Nocturnal increased moonlight increased, whereas decreased following full-moon Ambient good predictor only when moon full. These results argue convincingly an interaction between ambient determining observed pattern. It then advisable any evaluation cathemeral animals analyzed controlling possible effects previous
