摘要: Abstract Purpose To determine visual outcomes and the incidence of retinal detachment in eyes presenting with posterior vitreous separation dense fundus-obscuring hemorrhage. Design Retrospective consecutive noncomparative interventional case series. Participants Thirty-six (15 right 21 left eyes) 34 patients (18 female 16 male) ranging age from 42 to 94 years. Mean follow-up was 14 months. Methods A comparison best-corrected initial acuities versus final after spontaneous resolution hemorrhage or surgical intervention. The number that were found have tears had a rhegmatogenous develop documented. Logarithm minimum angle resolution-converted used for comparison. Categorical data analyzed by Fisher's exact test, population means compared Student's t test. Main outcome measures Final mean acuities, at least one tear, location tears, develop, repaired scleral buckling surgery and/or pars plana vitrectomy. Results Twenty-four 36 (67%) break (range, 0–4 breaks), 88% breaks located superior retina. Eleven (31%) more than break. Fourteen (39%) vitrectomy buckling. An additional underwent nonclearing history contralateral eye 75% ( P = 0.04). Seven (50%) coexisting proliferative vitreoretinopathy. Most detachments occurred emmetropic myopic eyes. For all preoperative acuity 20/1233, 20/62 0.01), as did vitreoretinopathy (20/129; Conclusions Acute, spontaneous, nontraumatic is associated high detachment. Close clinical examination ultrasonography necessary, because many these may eventually require Aggressive management early should be considered when there eye.
