摘要: Abstract Urban informal settlements are growing rapidly, placing slum upgrading on the political agenda worldwide. This paper presents a survey existing approaches integrating spatial data and upgrading. More precisely, it aims to explore possibility of exploiting Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) Citizen Science (CS) as potential practices for gathering information about settlements. Challenges include an asymmetric access technology GIS skills, well recognition validation citizen data. Opportunities, other hand, citizens express their needs municipalities provision up-to-date, accurate urban planners. Due its bottom-up conceptualization collection, VGI could take leading role in providing planning efforts which aim at understanding improving realities
