摘要: Ferrous iron rapidly oxidizes to Fe (III) and precipitates as hydrous oxides in acid mine waters. This study examines the effect of precipitation on rare earth element (REE) geochemistry waters determine pH range over which REEs behave conservatively attenuation fractionation occur. Two field studies were designed investigate REE during oxidation acidic, alpine surface To complement these studies, a suite six with from 1.6 6.1 collected allowed oxidize laboratory at ambient conditions partitioning precipitation. Results experiments document that even substantial oxidation, remain dissolved acid, sulfate below 5.1. Between 5.1 6.6 partitioned solid phases water column, heavy preferentially removed compared light REEs. Laboratory corroborated data most solid-phase occurring highest pH.
