摘要: Popliteal sciatic nerve block is a commonly used technique for surgery involving the foot and ankle. However, pain can be difficult to control as local anesthetic wears off. Therefore, we hypothesized that extending by using continuous infusion of bupivacaine (0.25%) would provide improved management might facilitate recovery process after or ankle surgery. In this randomized, doubleblinded, placebo-controlled study, 24 consenting patients undergoing with standardized general were studied. Before surgery, popliteal was performed in all an 18-gauge Tuohy epidural needle peripheral stimulator. After injection 0.25% 30 mL placement 20-gauge catheter, randomly assigned receive either 0.9% saline (control) at constant rate 5 mL/h up 48 h An 11-point verbal rating scale (0 no 10 worst imaginable) assess severity pain. Opioid analgesic use recorded specific time intervals Follow-up evaluations h, 72 1 week scores, well patient satisfaction their quality recovery, 100-point (1 highly dissatisfied 100 satisfied). group, there statistically significant reduction maximal scores (50%) opioid (60%) during postoperative period compared group. Patient (95 3 versus 77 13) (96 7 83 14) significantly group (versus control). addition, 40% none group) able discharged home on day (P 0.087). conclusion, decreased need rescue medication orthopedic ankle, leading recovery.
