摘要: Abstract In species with long-term partnerships, optimal mate preferences may differ from actual choice, and pair displays that advertise individual quality be expected. We examined the relationship between nest-building nestling-provisioning effort in Neotropical Buff-breasted Wrens (Thryothorus leucotis) to determine whether male or female expenditure during nest construction was used as an indicator of subsequent parental ability. build two types: breeding nests for raising offspring, “dormitory“ built year-round by pairs roosting overnight. The building males greater than their mates dormitory nests, whereas were similar breeding-nest nestling provisioning.
