摘要: Water resources have been overexploited for agricultural irrigation and industrial production in the upper middle reaches of Heihe River, northwestern China. Due to inadequate water management, runoff entering into lower has continuously reduced recent years. The River is primary recharge source groundwater reaches, so decrease caused level decline. As a result, series ecological environmental problems now appeared including river-flow interruptions, drying up associated lakes, degeneration vegetative cover on. In view these issues, National Diversion Project was put practice July 2000. It significantly increased quantity frequency flows recharged improved quality some degree along length river. deliveries had obvious influences on reaches. increase improvement great benefit restoring environment that destroyed past
