摘要: Abstract Analytical and experimental studies on geometrical aspects of the deposited tracks were carried out at different processing parameters for laser rapid manufacturing (LRM) in vertical surface configuration using AISI type 304 stainless steel powder substrate same material. The downward shift track its peak due to gravity flow melt found follow quadratic dependence height. rounded bulging was be quite significant scan speeds lesser than 200 mm/min, while this insignificant more 400 mm/min. A set consolidated continuous material deposition identified. threshold value energy fed, both per unit traverse length ~ 96 J/mm ~ 0.006 g/mm respectively. maximum catchment efficiency ~ 42% stand-off distances range 15–18 mm. waviness factor decrease from ~ 0.95 ~ 0.05 when overlap index increased 30% 80%. study provides a deeper insight into ensuing LRM configuration.
