摘要: The content and composition of fucoidans extracted from Undaria pinnatifida mussel farms at the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand were investigated using CaCl2 extraction. Crude fucoidan (F0) was subsequently on a monthly basis U. harvested July to October 2011 in Zealand. Fucoidan yield varied between frond sporophyll parts algae, with consistently highest content. increased significantly (25.4-26.3%) September (57.3-69.9%). Sulphate more than twice within same period, while fucose remained constant. F0 further purified by ion-exchange chromatography three fractions, F1, F2 F3. All fractions contained as primary sugar component followed galactose, xylose, glucose mannose minor constituents. exhibited strong antioxidant activities DPPH scavenging CUPRAC assays. This study showed that maturation influenced composition. Sporophyll could potentially be good resource for natural antioxidants.
