摘要: Background: Postoperative bleeding after thyroid surgery is a feared and life-threatening complication. The aim of the study was to identify risk factors for postoperative bleeding, with special emphasis on impact individual surgeon time diagnosis Methods: Data consecutive operations were collected prospectively in database over 30 years analysed retrospectively potential bleeding. Results: There 30142 occurred 519 patients (1·7 per cent). Risk identified older age (odds ratio (OR) 1·03 year), male sex (OR 1·64), extent resection up 1·41), bilateral procedure 1·99) operation recurrent disease 1·54). complications among surgeons differed by sevenfold. 336 (80·6 cent) 417 within first 6 h surgery. diagnosed 24 ten (2·4 cent), all whom had procedures. Nine required urgent tracheostomy. Three died, giving mortality rate 0·01 cent overall 0·6 who Conclusion: Observation recommended majority undergoing an endemic goitre area. Same-day discharge feasible selected patients, especially unilateral procedure. Quality improvement continuous outcome monitoring retraining suggested.
