摘要: In May 2009, a workshop was held in Washington DC to identify ways which HIV vaccine clinical research could benefit from and better incorporate behavioral social science (BSS) considerations. Seventy-one people government, non-government, private organizations participated, including researchers, trial scientists, BSS community representatives, sponsors. This elucidated the opportunities challenges for integrating by highlighting insights gained previous on prevention new approaches methodologies. Meeting participants identified priority areas where methodologies significantly impact developed concrete recommendations addressing current encountered relating impact, risk assessment, engagement, informed consent, reduction, special populations. These address need improving accuracy of participant data; standardizing data collection enable comparisons across studies; engaging at all levels; using evidenced-based counseling techniques; understanding needs concerns target populations; considering impacts macro-level forces influences. The importance establishing collaborations that can carry out these facilitate necessary changes thinking practice emphasized throughout meeting.
