摘要: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), also called matrixins, function in the turnover of extracellular matrix components. These enzymes are considered to play important roles embryo development, morphogenesis and tissue remodeling, diseases such as arthritis, periodontitis, glomerulonephritis, atherosclerosis, ulceration, cancer cell invasion metastasis. All MMPs synthesized preproenzymes most them secreted from cells proenzymes. Thus, activation these proenzymes is one critical steps that leads breakdown. This review describes recent progress made elucidate mechanisms pro-matrixins which include stepwise common proMMPs, surface progelatinase A procollagenase 3, intracellular prostromelysin 3 pro-membrane-type-1 MMP.
