Postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans evaluated. Pre- Oswestry Disability Questionnaires Linear Analog Pain Scale data obtained. Patients grouped according presenting symptoms. The minimal follow-up was 1 year (range, 12-24 months). Mean operative time 175 min 29 patients. Significant improvement (p < 0.01, paired t test) recorded in Tests. Of patients, 75.8% (22) satisfied, 3.4% (one) unsatisfied, 20.1% (six) unchanged. Narcotic use significantly eliminated reduced. return work 5 weeks (private insurance) 21 (workers compensation). complication rate 13.8%. appears be safe efficacious method excising herniated discs. Follow-up at resulted high satisfaction. advantages include length hospitalization well improved comfort.
