摘要: We investigated the genetics and evolution of West Nile virus (WNV) since initial detection in United States 1999 on basis continual surveillance studies Houston, Texas, USA, metropolitan area (Harris County) as a surrogate model for WNV national scale. Full-length genomic sequencing 14 novel 2010–2012 isolates collected from resident birds Harris County demonstrates emergence 4 independent genetic groups distinct historical strains circulating greater Houston region 2002. Phylogenetic geospatial analyses 2012 indicate closer relationship with 2003–2006 than more recent 2007–2011 isolates. Inferred monophyletic relationships these several 2006–2009 northeastern US supports potential introduction strain Texas 2010. These results emphasize need to maintain activities better understand transmission dynamics States.
