摘要: In areas with endemic hepatitis E virus (HEV), acute liver failure secondary to infection is common in pregnancy and associated a mortality rate of up 20%. However, there little information on the clinical course severe during non-endemic such as UK. Here we describe two cases patients returning from Indian subcontinent. These were diagnosed by detection IgM anti-HEV antibody using an enzyme immunoassay recombinant viral antigens. The first case describes hepatic failure, coagulopathy encephalopathy, warranting intensive therapy elective ventilation. other case, patient had coagulopathy. Both spontaneously resolved no foetal loss. highlight need for suspicion HEV presenting non-A non-B hepatitis, especially when pregnant. Furthermore, treatment caused may reduce high reported Asia.
