Warthin's tumour associated with autoimmune diseases and tobacco use

摘要: To better clarify the possible role of immune mechanisms in pathogenesis Warthin's tumour (WT), we performed a retrospective study patients with WT surgically treated at Institute Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, University Florence, during 25-year period; looking for association autoimmune pathologies. The analysis clinical records 140 compared those 380 pleomorphic adenoma revealed higher incidence disorders, particularly organ-specific disease (i.e. insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism hypothyroidism) than (PA) (23% vs 3%; R.R.: 8.69; p < 0.0001). Moreover, demonstrate positive smoking history 87% to only 38% PA subjects (p 0.001).
