摘要: If isolates are speciated and if a sufficient range of antibiotics is tested, underlying resistance mechanisms can often be inferred from the antibiogram data. This allows: (i) anomalous combinations phenotype organism to reconsidered; (ii) prediction further that deserve testing; (iii) suppression susceptibilities in light mechanism. 'interpretative reading' widely undertaken France but largely precluded UK by limited speciation testing narrow ranges antibiotics. Nevertheless, laboratories should aware of: grossly species phenotype, demanding reference laboratory confirmation; useful indicator drugs, where implies mechanism conferring other resistances may less obvious direct tests; prone select resistant mutants particular during therapy. Details these presented. Relationships between also presented allow full interpretative reading for those wide panels drugs versus isolates.
