摘要: The diversity of seaweed species the south-western Antarctic Peninsula region is poorly studied, contrasting with substantial knowledge available for northern parts Peninsula. However, this a key affected by contemporary climate change. Significant consequences change include sea ice recession, increased iceberg scouring and inputs glacial melt water, all which can have major impacts on benthic communities. We present baseline checklist southern Adelaide Island Marguerite Bay region, combining data obtained during small number surveys completed in 1973–1975 6-week intensive diving-based field campaign 2010–2011. Overall, total 41 macroalgal recorded (7 brown, 27 red, 6 green, 1 chrysophyte), species-poor compared to north Peninsula, even more so comparison sub-Antarctic. canopy-forming Desmarestia menziesii, abundant waters, but lacking Himantothallus grandifolius, common further phytobenthos, was absent our recent collections. This paper also reports first record Aplanochytrium sp. (Labyrinthulomycetes) from part Antarctica association Elachista
