摘要: Abstract We analyzed 40 coal samples and 45 carbonaceous shale of varying thermal maturity (vitrinite reflectance 0.59% to 4.28%) from the Upper Carboniferous coal-bearing strata Silesian, Lower Lublin basins, Poland, evaluate their potential for generation expulsion gaseous liquid hydrocarbons. evaluated source rock based on Rock-Eval pyrolysis yield, elemental composition (atomic H/C O/C), solvent extraction yields bitumen. An attempt was made relate maceral these parameters organic matter likely biological precursors. A few contain sufficient (pyrolysis assay composition) be considered rocks, although extractable hydrocarbon bitumen are lower than those reported in previous studies effective Type III rocks. Most analysed insufficient capacity hydrocarbons reach thresholds required (primary migration) occur. In view findings, it is improbable that any coals or shales at sites sampled our study would capable expelling commercial amounts oil. Inasmuch as a contained possible some locations stratigraphic zones within could have favourable potential, but not clearly delimited with number study. Because high heteroatomic content amount asphaltenes, bitumens less generating even under optimal conditions counterpart which content.
