摘要: The abundance, population structure and growth of juvenile Asian horseshoe crabs Tachypleus tridentatus Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda are rarely reported in the literature. This study investigated density allometry these sympatric species on intertidal areas three spawning nursery beaches, Xi Bei Ling (XBL), Jin Hai Wan (JHW) Chang (XC) along coast Beibu Gulf, southern China. While T. C. coexisted JHW XC only was found at XBL. (0.9–3.2 individuals/100 m2) significantly higher than that (0.1–1.7 JHW, but densities were similar XC. Juvenile ranged size (prosomal width) from 14 to 89 mm estimated represent instars 4–12 ages 2–8 years based previous studies. juveniles 16–75 prosomal width represented 5–15. Hiatt model relationship between pre- post-molt data showed increments rotundicauda. Growth rates for varied 4.4 19.7 mm/year, depending instar stage site. not determined due lack data. These establish a baseline waters will support future monitoring assessment populations habitat resources.
