摘要: The presence of cross-sensory influences on neuronal responses in primary sensory cortex has been observed previously using several different methods. To test this idea rat S1 barrel cortex, we hypothesized that auditory stimuli combined with whisker stimulation (“cross-sensory” stimuli) may modify response levels to stimulation. Since the brain shown have a remarkable capacity be modified by early postnatal activity, manipulating experiences would predicted alter degree interactions. these ideas, raised rats or without deprivation and exposure repeated clicks. We recorded extracellular under urethane anesthesia from neurons principal alone, click stimulus. were compared statistically across stimulus conditions rearing groups. Barrel did not generate action potentials alone any group. However, magnitude was facilitated 0–15 ms post-whisker-stimulus epoch all conditions, whereas modulation later 15–30 significantly each condition. most significant effect occurred simultaneously deprived reared. conclude there is modulatory type influence normal which can enhanced experiences.
