摘要: Reconstruction of lake-water δ 1 8 O from analysis cellulose in two sediment cores Lake Victoria, East Africa, shows a large shift to lower values during the terminal Pleistocene. This records transition closed- open-basin conditions following desiccation at Last Glacial Maximum. Although oxygen isotope one core had placed this overflow ka (7200 4 C yr B.P.), reevaluation age model for core, addition new stratigraphic and chronological evidence second suggests that basin was established much earlier, ca. 13 ka. Our refined view timing Victoria inferred is consistent with other paleolimnological studies, indicating lake-sediment an effective sensitive isotopic archive major hydrologic events region.
