摘要: Objective To establish accurate, up-to-date, baseline epidemiological data for herpes zoster (HZ) before the introduction of recently licensed HZ vaccine. Methods Using from January 1, 1996, to October 15, 2005, we conducted a population-based study adult residents (Greater than or equal 22 years) Olmsted County, MN, determine (by medical record review) incidence and rate HZ-related complications. Incidence rates were determined by age sex adjusted US population. Results A total 1669 with confirmed diagnosis identified between December 31, 2001. Most (92%) these patients immunocompetent 60% women. When population, was 3.6 per 1000 person-years (95% confidence interval, 3.4-3.7), temporal increase 3.2 4.1 1996 The HZ-associated complications increased age, 68% cases occurring in those aged 50 years older. Postherpetic neuralgia occurred 18% 33% 79 Overall, 10% all experienced 1 more nonpain Conclusions Our suggest that primarily affects adults older years; 4 experiences some type complication.
