Single, childless working women's construction of wellbeing: On balance, being dynamic and tensions between them

摘要: Objective: Single, childless working women (SCWW) are a notable proportion of the female workforce. The budding research on this population suggests that they have issues wellbeing may be tied to specific needs both their workplaces and personal lives, hence, distinct work-life dynamics require attention. This study explores how SCWW construct wellbeing. Participants: sample was composed 22 aged 29 45. Methods: A discourse analysis transcripts semi-structured interviews with these performed. Results: Most drew an interpretative repertoire "wellbeing as balance" (e.g., diversification reasonable dosing life's dimensions). It associated recurrent subject position we termed "the dynamic woman" whose intensity transfused talk activities in her life. Here, work becomes "passion" source appreciated challenges. However, dilemma could arise from constructions for positioning oneself relation cadence one's active life or rather, articulating unambiguous claim balance. Balance/dosing dynamicity/passion can uneasy bedfellows. Conclusions: Our analyses raise questions about possible counter(balancing) discourses further argue relevance SCWW.
