摘要: Intergranular failure in metallic materials represents a multiscale damage mechanism: some feature of the material microstructure triggers separation grain boundaries on microscale, but intergranular fractures develop into long cracks macroscale. This work develops model boundary for modeling delamination--a one particular family sharing common normal direction. The key is physically-consistent and mesh independent, scheme that homogenizes at many microscale single parameter macroscale to characterize across plane. specific application framework developed here considers delamination modern Al---Li alloys. However, may be readily applied other metals or composites non-delamination interface geometries--for example, multiple populations interfaces with different geometric characteristics.
