摘要: Midkine (MK) is the first cloned gene in a new family of heparin-binding growth/differentiation factors involved regulation growth and differentiation. We have analyzed expression MK mRNA protein during tooth development mouse embryos studied biological effects organ cultures. was restricted preferential area as compared to rest developing maxillary mandibular processes suggesting specific functions for morphogenesis. were expressed all stages formation (initiation, morphogenesis, cell differentiation), shifts observed between epithelial mesenchymal tissue components. However, showed marked differences at some paracrine MK. Tissue recombination experiments that are regulated by epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, and, moreover, dental induces ectopic non-dental tissue. The arch mesenchyme from region stimulated local application retinoic acid beads. Cell proliferation inhibited around beads releasing MK, but this effect modulated simultaneous FGF-2. Morphogenesis differentiation germs cultured presence neutralizing antibodies whereas other organs (e.g., salivary gland, kidney) unaffected. These results suggest important roles molecular cascade regulates development.
