The Men’s Shed: Providing Biopsychosocial and Spiritual Support

摘要: Community Men's Sheds (CMS) have been a unique approach within Australia for addressing and promoting men's health well-being issues by providing biopsychosocial support. Given the decline of traditional religious influence, contemporary understanding 'spirituality', it can be argued that CMS may also develop demonstrate characteristics communal spirituality. This research aimed to explore individual community contribution in terms subsequently whether programmes satisfied consensus A qualitative case study was undertaken combining both participant observation over 6-month period semi-structured in-depth interviews with 21 men varying ages occupations attending Melbourne suburban (Victoria, Australia). Thematic analysis indicated provided number benefits at individual, family, public levels. These included increased self-esteem empowerment, respite from families, sense belonging opportunity exchange ideas relating personal, issues.
