摘要: Objective  To examine whether differences in birthweight of various ethnic groups residing the Netherlands can be explained by determinants birthweight. Design  Population-based birth cohort study. Setting  Data pregnant women and their partners Rotterdam, Netherlands. Population  We examined data 6044 with a Dutch, Moroccan, Turkish, Capeverdean, Antillean, Surinamese-Creole, Surinamese-Hindustani Surinamese-other background. Methods  Regression analyses were used to assess impact biomedical, socio-demographic lifestyle-related on differences. Main outcome measure  Birthweight was established immediately after delivery grams. Results  Compared mean offspring Dutch (3485 g, SD 555), lower all non-Dutch populations, except Moroccans. Differences ranged from an 88-g Turkish 424-g women. gestational age, maternal paternal height largely Surinamese-Creole populations. between Capeverdean populations could only partly studied determinants. Conclusions  These results confirm significant that understood birthweight. The part is points importance cannot easily modified, such as parental height. Further study necessary obtain fuller understanding.
