摘要: Total knee replacement (TKR) is one of the most commonly done surgical procedures, with over 150,000 total replacements and THR performed annually in England Wales National Health Service (NHS). In India although clear-cut data not available but incidence increasing. US, 431,000 TKRs are yearly utilization TKR has increased last two decades, especially among younger patients .TKR may be associated severe post-operative pain. The International Association for Study Pain (IASP) defined pain as “an unpleasant sensory or emotional experience actual potential tissue damage, described terms such damage”. Joint Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) made adequate management a priority deemed monitoring “fifth” vital sign.
