摘要: Ultrathin MgO films grown on Ag(001) have been investigated using X-ray and ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopies for oxide successively exposed to Mg O2 flux. Studying work functions layer-resolved Auger shifts allows us keep track of band profiles from the surface interface reveal charge-transfer mechanisms underlying controlled creation Mg-induced color centers catalytic enhancement activation. Our results demonstrate that one can intimately probe properties metal-supported ultrathin by studying electronic alignment at interfaces.
