摘要: Prostate cancer is the most common non-cutaneous in men United States. Cancer metabolism has emerged as a contemporary topic of great interest for improved mechanistic understanding tumorigenesis. disease model from metabolic perspective. Prostatic tissue exhibits unique activity under baseline conditions. Benign prostate cells accumulate zinc and this excess inhibits citrate oxidation within citric acid cycle, effectively resulting production. Malignant cells, however, actively oxidize resume more typical cycle function. Of further interest, does not exhibit Warburg effect, an increase glucose uptake, seen many other cancers. These cellular differences others are clinical they present variety potential therapeutic targets. Furthermore, profile between benign versus low high-grade cancers also represents avenue to better understand progression potentially develop new diagnostic testing. In paper, we review current state knowledge on phenotypes cancer.
