Clinicomycological profile of tinea capitis in children residing in orphanages

摘要: Abstract Introduction: Tinea capitis is the most common dermatophyte infection of scalp affecting mainly children and rarely adults. It closely related to socio-economic hygienic conditions typical lower strata rural urban population. Aims: The study was undertaken delineate clinical mycological profile tinea among residing in orphanages compare sensitivity specificity KOH microscopy culture. Materials methods: A total 218 were included this cross sectional study. Results: Among screened, 51 (23.3%) showed evidence capitis. Grey patch commonest type (54.9%). Direct microscopic examination positive 68.62% cases. Dermatophytes isolated 43.13% cases Trichophyton rubrum species (50%) isolated. Conclusions: results reveal that very with a low socioeconomic (low standard living, poor hygiene, overcrowded living health education).
