The glass gene encodes a zinc-finger protein required by Drosophila photoreceptor cells

摘要: Null mutations of glass specifically remove photoreceptor cells, leaving other cell types intact. We have isolated the gene and shown that its transcript encodes a putative protein 604 amino acids with five zinc-fingers. The product may be transcription factor required for development single neuronal type.
