摘要: The phylum currently consists of seven classes: the Methanobacteria, Methanococci, Halobacteria, Thermoplasmata, Thermococci, Archaeoglobi, and Methanopyri. With sole exception which is subdivided into three orders, each class contains a single order. Euryarchaeota are morphologically diverse occur as rods, cocci, irregular lancet-shaped, spiral-shaped, disk-shaped, triangular, or square cells. Cells stain Gram-positive Gram-negative based on presence absence pseudomurein in cell walls. In some classes, walls consist entirely protein may be completely absent (Thermoplasmata). Five major physiological groups have been described previously: methanogenic Archaea, extremely halophilic Archaea lacking wall, sulfate reducing thermophilic S0 metabolizers.
